We found the most amazing train through the California Redwoods that had a "pumpkin patch" (in quotes because of course they don't actually grow there) at the top of the mountain.
Did you see the most amazing part there, through the California Redwoods! It was an absolutely amazing and interesting ride that included unmatched scenery and a fantastic California history lesson (school day: check).
The ride was beautiful and it was our first ride on an actual steam engine. It was truly an experience for us all. We were misted by the steam, got to ride on a switch back track and were able to see some of the historical track from years gone by.
Eli picked the tiniest pumpkin for Lydia and we all were overwhelmed at his sweet little spirit. He would not let her be left out - even if she was asleep in the sling.
There was quite the neat set up in the town where the train began and ended. Lots of fun activities and things to look at.
And look at this couple, it almost looks like we are in charge.
It was the perfect starting point for this train loving family.
The pumpkin patch in 2012 (with Lydia just starting to make her presence known), 2009 (with baby Colin), in 2008 and in 2007.
