Birthday Present from Japan

Uncle Matthew and Aunt Elaine sent Walker a birthday present from their current post in Japan. Walker was so excited to receive the package (which got here in about a week, impressive).

Getting started...

...doesn't everyone have a full laundry basket on their kitchen table?

Walker has asked to call Uncle Matthew and Aunt Elaine several times to say thank you. I hope their phone gets set up soon and I can figure out the time change so he can place that call!

That hat is adorable!!!! And I prefer to keep my laundry basket on the coffee table!

I'm most impressed by Walker's initiative regarding the thank-you; most times, thank-yous come from our nieces and nephews only after strong prodding from parents, or more likely, grandma. And those are simple notes, not international phone calls!

If you all haven't tried it, www.skype.com lets you make phone calls for cheap (computer to phone lines) or free (computer to computer with Skype). We set it up for Nicaragua, and it was GREAT. I know we'll use it more often to talk to our overseas friends. We just got a cheap headset, and talked all we wanted! Call me if you have questions!

Happy Birthday Walker! He's such a big boy now. And yes, we all have those laundry baskets sitting around...sometimes two...and usually with a cat sleeping on top.

Vonage is up and ready. Elaine really deserves most of the credit.
